This powerpoint presentation on “Women, security and banning nuclear weapons” was given by Rebecca Johnson to an audience of students and interested members of the public on 21 February 2019, at the School of Oriental and African Students (SOAS), University of London. Dr Johnson was invited as a SOAS alumnus (MA in Far Easters Studies, 1982). She was invited by SOAS CND in the run-up to International Women’s Day, 8 March, to provide a personal and political reflection on her life and work as a feminist peace activist, spanning from her arrival at SOAS in 1981 to achieving the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons and 2017 Nobel Peace Prize as a founding strategist and president of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN).
