Libya Said to Halt Work on Controversial Chemical Plant

On 19 March, John Holum, the Director of the US Arms Control and Disarmament Agency (ACDA), told reporters that US intelligence was detecting no construction activity at the Tarhuna facility in Libya, which the US last year announced it suspected of being a major chemical weapons production site. According to Holum:

"Our latest reports are that construction has halted at that plant."

Report: Libya halts chemical arms plant, United Press International, 19 March.
