According to the report, on which the DoD did not immediately comment, the test would aim to fire the laser, from the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, at a US Air Force satellite. The new weapon - reportedly known as Miracle (Mid-Infrared Advanced Chemical Laser) - has apparently already been tested on the ground.
