About the Acronym Institute

Nicola Butler

Nicola Butler is Deputy Director of the Acronym Institute and an independent consultant on nuclear issues based in London. She is responsible for the Institute website. She has an MA in Peace Studies from the University of Bradford, with her MA dissertation on the UK Trident Programme: the Changing Rationale in the Post-Cold War Era. She also has a B.Sc. (Hons) in Mathematics from the University of Leeds.

She writes regularly on a range of subjects including UK and NATO policy, and the North Korea nuclear crisis. As well as her work for Disarmament Diplomacy, her work has also been published in a number of magazines including the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists and Red Pepper.

Butler worked previously for the British American Security Information Council in Washington and for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament in London.
