Disarmament Diplomacy
Issue No. 13, February - March 1997
Editor's Introduction
In addition to its regular features, Issue No. 13 inaugurates a
series of discussion papers on the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
The first NPT Focus Papers are from Joseph Cirincione,
Executive Director of the Committee on Nuclear Policy, and Rebecca
Johnson, Director of Disarmament Intelligence Review. Both authors
consider the potential benefits and disappointments of the NPT's
enhanced review process, due to be launched at an April meeting of
the Treaty's Preparatory Committee.
Rebecca Johnson also contributes two Updates, on
developments at the Conference on Disarmament (CD) and the
Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty
Organization (CTBTO).
Our Opinion Piece - pondering the strategic and
intellectual challenges of effectively campaigning for a
Nuclear-Weapon-Free World (NWFW) - is provided by Bruce Kent,
former Chair of the UK Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND).
