Japanese Vice-Minister Resigns After Nuclear Weapons
Comments
On October 20, Shingo Nishimura, Japan's Vice Minister of Defence,
was forced to resign after controversial statements defending
nuclear deterrence published in Playboy magazine. In
Nishimura's grotesque analogy: "If there were no punishment for
rape, then we would all be rapists. But that's not the case, as
punishment acts as a deterrence... 'Collective security' can be
thought of as a man helping a woman who is being raped. In the same
way, 'invasion' is getting rid of men in a country and raping their
women..."
